Street Department

The Street Department is responsible for maintaining the streets and alleys, storm drainage systems, public right-of-ways, parking lots, municipal buildings and equipment. Specific tasks include street cleaning, snow and ice removal, alley grading, crack sealing, asphalt and concrete patching, storm drain cleaning/maintenance, traffic and street sign maintenance, municipal building maintenance storm debris cleanup and noxious weed control.  This department is also in charge of opening and closing graves and setting government markers in the Wamego City Cemetery.  There are currently about 27 miles of streets and highways within the Wamego city limits, plus 4.3 miles of alleyways.
