The Wamego Public Library is a vital cultural feature of the local community, making scholarship and ideas available to all residents of the Wamego area. The Library has thousands of items available to borrowers or for reference, including books, periodicals, audio and visual materials. In addition, as a member of the North Central Kansas Library System, Library patrons have access to items from any of the member libraries in the region. Computers are also available within the Library for public internet usage.
A large part of the Library’s services are oriented towards children, and include an after school story time and summer reading program. The children’s areas are located downstairs, where a children’s Librarian will be on duty.
The main Library is on the first floor and includes the general and reference collections, teen collection, computer room and separate reading room. A reference Librarian is available to assist patrons.
The Wamego Public Library is governed by the Library Board, appointed by the Wamego Governing Body. The Board utilizes property tax revenues to support Library facilities, staff and services. Day to day operations are managed by the Library Director.
