The street project including Walnut, Spruce, Chestnut and Vine from 4th to 8th Street and Plum
Street continues to be in the design phase.  This update is about the street trees. At this point, we have not marked the street trees that will have to be removed, but we do know that it will include most, if not all between the street and sidewalk.  This area is a beautiful part of town and full of trees.  When this project is complete there will still be trees on these streets.  To help with the transition, the City plans to start cutting some of the trees down between now and spring.  We will be starting with unhealthy trees or trees that pose a risk in the area, followed by areas that have multiple trees located together.

Please note that prior to planting trees between the street and sidewalk, the property owner is supposed to get permission from the City.  There a few newly planted trees.  If property owners want to, they can transplant them onto their property outside of the City right of way.  Please do not plant any new street trees in the area of this project.  Please reach out with specific questions.

Property owners will be contacted prior to a tree on their property being cut down.  If you want a tree on your property to be removed in one of these first groups, please email or call 785-456-9119.
