Geography

Wamego is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 24 and K-99. It is about 13 miles east of Manhattan, home of Kansas State University; and about 35 miles west-northwest of Topeka, the state capital. The Kansas River flows along the southern edge of the city.

Wamego has a total area of 1.7 square miles, of which, 1.6 square miles is land and 0.04 square miles is water.
