I didn't know Wamego had a homepage. COOL!

I have applied for the job of Administrator at Wamego City Hospital
After this I decided to review the pages and found this city
to be very interesting. I hope things work out for me there.
Sounds and looks like a lovely place to live, work, and raise
a family.

I have lived all my live. I have known Hoogie for some time since I worked with him in Manhattan. I enjoy the different avtivities that wamego has every year. My wife loves to go to the Tulip Fest. every year. My 3 kids love the activities on the 4th of July. They love the school systems as well as my wife and I do. They look forward to go to school every morning. My youngest is the 1st grade and really enjoys his teacher Mrs. Wagner. My youngest daughter also had Mrs.Wagner as a teacher. She also really enjoyed her. She says that she wished she could have her every year. For those of you that are wondering about our wounderful school systems you have alot to look forward to.We have enjoyed every teacher that our children has had. They are very caring about your children and let you know how your child is doing and if there any problems he/she may have. They more than willing to help them with whatever the problems he/she might have. If you ever decide to move here we will be very glad to have you. Hope to see you soon.

Nicely done. A good advertisment for Wamego. I lived
across from the rose garden in the early 1950s and
my mother's family (the Urquharts) were from north of
town.

Fellow Wamegoians',
Just stopped in to check on our adopted home town. Glad to see the Columbian still up and running. Sue cries every time she sees the picture of the ladies on the net.

Hope all is well. Looking forward to retiring in Wamego next summer. Drop us a line!

Car broke on I-70 in 1975 while driving form Ft. Wayne Indiana to Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I was a kid, just 10 yrs. We had to buy a car in Wamego. I remember beautiful rolling fields and a bridge -- I think it said "1920" on it. Mountain Dews were ten cents at Wamego Ford.

My youngest brother, wife, and 3 children moved to Wamego about a year ago from Iowa. They still cheer for the Hawkeyes, but I know they are warming up to the Cats. I have been to Wamego several times to visit them. You seem to have a nice town. My relatives like it there, so you must be an alright place to live.

Our family will be moving to Wamego at the end of March. My twin daughters will be in ninth grade next year. They are currently taking high school courses in algebra and Spanish. They are wondering if those courses will be accepted as high school credits in the Wamego school district. Also they are wondering if they would be able to take geometry. It appears that a classmate of theirs will not be able to geometry at Salina Central next fall. They will not start in the Wamego schools until next fall; they will finish the school year in Salina. They would also like to have a schedule of classes if available.

Thank you.

I was born in Manhattan in 1960, and lived there until I was 10 years old. Every 4th of July we would come to Wamego to enjoy the celebration/fireworks. I have recently been back through town and its amazing how things have changed, though it takes me right back to my childhood to see the park and the old windmill. Its a real treat to find Wamego on the WWW.

What a kick. I'm glad this forum wasn't here 10 years ago. This would have been a completely different posting. When I left that town, I was thanking God. Now I'm so glad I'm from there. I learned A LOT while growing up in Wamego. I wouldn't trade any of those experiences for the world.
Some of my favorite memories: Wamego Municipal Pool (old & new)...Traveling every day to Zeandale for 4th grade...Delivering flowers to what seemed to be every home in Pott county...Bowling every Saturday...and, of course, that sequined drum major outfit.
If I ever hung out with you, Thanks! I really appreciate everybody I ever knew there. I'm not sayin' I liked ya, I just appreciate ya. I'm looking forward to reading some great things on this board.

Hello from Missouri! We are in the military as many of the other people who have left messages. As many others, we are also looking for a place to make home as we retire. Trust me we have been searching many many areas in a variety of states because we really want to find the best place for us to call home. We were stationed at Fort Riley 3 years ago and both loved the mid-western values, the beautiful area, the low crime rates, but most of all the kindness and friendliness we experienced there. We have a son that graduated from K State in 1996 and we have a daughter that will be in the 7th grade when we move, so we are very concerned about the school system. We are especially impressed with Wamego's "guest list" because it gave us such and opportunity to hear what people who have been there say about the town. You have moved to the top of our list of places to look for a home to buy, I'm sure we won't be disappointed, it sounds great! Look forward to visiting your community soon, thanks for the web page, it was a big help.

Greetings from the South Carolina Low Country

K-State and the Air Force took us away from Wamego a long
time ago. We still have friends and relatives around the
Town and get back that way just about every year. What
great pride we see each time we visit Wamego!

During George's Class of '54 reunion in 1989 we got to visit
the High School. He hadn't been in the complex since
graduating. Wow, what a clean facility! This again showed
immense pride in the community.

Memories that linger: (1) Climbing up the stairs in the Columbian
to see movies, (2) Santa arriving on Lincoln Ave. on a flat-
bed truck to throw sacks of candy, and fruit and nuts to each
youngster, (3) 4th of July in the Park, (4) American Legion
baseball at the ball diamond, (5) Murphy's Drug Store as a
place to congregate, (6) St. Luke's Episcopal Church for
Sunday worship, (7) Learning about everything at W.H.S., and
(8) All of the friendships made and cherished to this day.

George shares with folks where we've lived, 10 states and
three foreign countries, how the good people of the Wamego
Community used to rally around their neighbors during a time
of loss of a loved one, or a crisis. We remember that there
were no greater Americans than those who live right there in
Wamego.

So, congratulations, Wamego, keep up the good work. We pray
that God will continue to pour His blessings on you.

Sincerely
George and Carol Burgess <geoaimhigh@aol.com>

About the entry below.
I have been half of the way around the world at least three times. I and my family have lived in more than thirty locations for an extended period of time. Every location had its "boring and distastefull" aspects. I tried to find and enjoy the not boring aspects of all places I have been. And everyone of them had plenty, sometimes they were hard to find and participate in, but they were there for the seeker.
The "distastefull" I tried to understand from the viewpoint of the natives, some were understandable some were not. I tried in my small way to counter and plant the seeds for destruction of those "distastefull" things.
Actively participate in the environment you find yourself in and usually you will find it rewarding. Sometimes you will find and observe things that you will actively avoid doing or specifically will do in the future. That way you and the participants in your environment both benefit.
I found many things in the year I lived in Memphis, Tennessee in 1960, that were very distastefull. But I learned many things not to do and think about my fellow human beings that made me a better person.

I was browsing for some information one morning and came across your site. Went directly to the Wamego Middle School site. Several years ago, I was the architect for the team of admistrators, patrons and designers for the project. I really wasn't able to share the joy of the town when this building was dedicated. But running across it now, in this way, gives me a certain contentment that things are going well. I developed many wonderful relationships with a lot of the people in Wamego while working with them on this project. I will never forget the energy, concern and dedication that the whole project team put into this project. It is truly one project that I am proud to say I had something to do with. I would really appreciate any comments from the current users of the faciltiy on how it functions for them. Are there any problems? Are there any aspects of the building they really like? Unfortunatly, but it is rare in these days of rush-rush-rush that people have time to follow-up on issues from their past. They are often too busy moving forward. However, I am a great believer in learning from past experiences, and any feedback your users could give would be benefitial. Well, keep up the good work Wamego. You have many physical things to be proud of in your town, but I believe your real assest is your people.

This is absolutely superb!!! I can virtually come back "home" with a simple key stroke. When you see my parents (Don & Evelyn Zoeller) in town, tell them Nancy says "HEY" (southern slang for Hi). "There is no place like home".

A Texas "Howdy" to all Wamegoans. I get back "home" every one
a while. A truly great place to unwind and enjoy. Much less stressful
than Dallas, eventhough it does have three stoplights now. Keep up the
good work on the homepage. Us "Out-of-town Wamegoans" really enjoy it.

My husband Dane grew up in Wamego. It's a great place! We visit a lot to see Nana and Grandpa (Donna and Byron Jacobson). If you see Byron downtown, tell him hello from Kim in Valentine! Thanks!

WOW!
DADDY HAS DONE IT THIS TIME. WAMEGO ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB!
THAT'S GROOOOOOVY!
NOW, MY 2 CENTS:
I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE TRAVELED THE WORLD &
BUILD A SUCCESSFUL COMPANY OVER THE PAST TEN YEARS. MANY
PEOPLE WERE CONVINCED THAT I WOULD AMOUNT TO NOTHING. THE
FEW THAT TOOK THE TIME TO CARE ARE THE FEW WHICH I'LL ALWAYS
RESPECT AND NEVER FORGET. PARENTS & TEACHERS, WITHOUT A DOUBT,
SHAPE SOCIETY. WAMEGO IS FULL OF THESE KIND OF PEOPLE. IN MY
VIEW, THAT IS ITS' MOST VALUABLE RECOURCE. I STILL READ
"THE WAMEGO TIMES" (RELIGIOUSLY) EVERY SUNDAY MORNING. I
GUESS IT'S SORT OF A REALITY CHECK. I NEVER WANT TO FORGET
WHO I AM & WHO MY FRIENDS (PLUG FOR MY BUDDY BRIAN WEILERT)
& FAMILY ARE. I'VE ALSO ENJOYED WATCHING THE TOWN GROW.
DON'T GROW TOO LARGE, ASK DIXIE, BIGGER IS DEFINATELY NOT
BETTER.

It is a nice place to visit. Try eating at the Friendship House and the friendly service at the First National Bank of Wamego. If you appreciate history and art, visit the Columbian. Have fun!!!!

We moved from Wamego six months ago to El Paso Texas. We really miss the beautiful park and the green stuff on the ground that you all call grass. Looking forward to retiring back to Wamego in three to four years. Drop us a note and give us a reality check! God Bless!!!

I don't know where Wamego is but its probably a pretty
cool place. Never use a dead pig as a prop while doing
stand-up comedy.
