I grew up in St. George, six miles west of Wamego, but consider it all "home". I think my Dad was right on the money when he said that Kansans are honest, hard working people. I have a sign in my office here that says, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Todo." Some days, I wish I was. Great memories!!

Hello, Wamego, Ks. just logged on to keep up to date on the Methodist Church progress. It's a great church with great people in it. I used to live in Wamego back in1961-1962 and wish I'd never left. I have a sister and brother there now. Maybe I'll come back one day and not just to visit, as I do that 5 times a year. take care!

I am from Manhattan and we used to go to Wamego every Fourth of July for the parade and fireworks show! My brother and I used to love the miniature railroad! I was out there last summer and was encouraged by the new construction and development I saw. I have very fond memories of Wamego and am glad to see it prospering!

My husband and I visited Wamego in July. It is still one of the prettiest towns and still wish I could live there. Went to the Oz Museum which was very interesting. We also stopped in the Friendship House for their tasty treats. My girlfriend gave me a copy of their new cookbook. What a delight! Since we've been visiting Wamego just about every year since '97 I'm beginng to recognize some of the friendly citizens! It's like coming home!

I am currently stationed at Fort Carson, just outside of Colorado Springs. It's nice to visit, but just too big for my family.
I will be stationed at Fort Riley as of October 20th, and I found Wamego by accident.
I will say that I am glad I did, from what I saw on this website, I am excited to come and visit with my family to look for a home there.
My wife and I both looked at the site, and we loved what we saw. She will be in Minnesota until she finishes her nursing school next August, along with out two daughters.
We love small towns, and the kind of atmosphere that your town generates is exactly what we are looking for to raise our girls.
If you could give us more information, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Sincerely,

The Lindstrom's

On a recent July 2004 trip across country, my mother and I saw the signs directing passers by to the OZ Museum off of I-70E. We drove to Wamego, but, the museum was closed. We enjoyed the displays in the window. Do you have a catalog of your items in a gift shop?

Greetings all--My parents owned the Wamego Drug Store, it is now owned by Robert King and sons. I graduated in 1975, and our class will be celebrating our 30 year reunion next summer. Please spread the word to anyone who may still be in the area, and if you have any information on any of our graduates please pass along my email address to them. We would like to include as many classmates as possible. Wamego has certainly changed over the years, the city park is something to be proud of, it was not taken care of when I was a child, the fruit of your hard work is outstanding. Best wishes to all. I have heard about your town so was interested about your site. The one thing is your oz museum, my sister and great nephew, who is 5, buys dolls, books, and anything else they can find about oz. FRom our southeast corner of Ks., how far to Wamego? We are right in the very se corner, about 25 miles from Ok. line. Would like to visit sometime. Right now the 5 yr. old is starting school and in Sept. he has back surgery. So can't make it now until next year. but do like to know about your area. Thank you.

We went to a reunion Sunday and just loved how Wamego looked and how it has changed. I remember sitting on the porch as a little girl at the house that used to sit where the Sonic is now and watching the parade. Them were good days.

My wife, Amy Fox Birdwell, grew up in Wamego. We go back there regularly to visit her family. I am very pleased with the Wamego home page. I learned about some things that I did not know about. We'll make an effort to see the things that we had previously missed. Wamego has one of the best atmosphere's I have experienced in my travels around the world. I always enjoy returning there.

Hi! everyone in Wamego,Ks. We read in our AAA magazine about the new museum "OZ" and we are looking forward to visiting the week of July 19,2004. We have been there several times and always enjoy our visits there. I have been trying to get the rest of my family to go back and visit. It is a little on the sad side to see the places we had lived in with our parents ( George & Joan Blaszczyk) and had some very good times. We now live in Minn. Mo. and Ks. and have families but our hearts are still in Wamego,Ks.Thanks for this website. Wanda Koehn (Blaszczyk)

I visited Wamego just this past May. It had been years since I had been there. There is now only one grocery store, but lots of convenience stores and a Taco Bell...The park is still as beautiful as I remember it and the memories began to flood back as I drove into town. I left Wamego when my son was 1 1/2 and now he is 18...amazing how time flies..
