I used to live in Wamego about four years ago. I found it to be an alright place to live. Now I'm in Daytona Beach and I attend Mainland High School. I'm a varsity soccer player and ranked fourty-fourth of three-hundred and eighty-five kids in my Senior Class. Just like to give a shout out to all my boys and girls of my past. I've changed a great deal since my days at ol' wamego middle. All I can say to yall is keep rollin and drop bows when ya need to.

I was born in Wamego in 1942 and moved to California in 1951 after the big flood there. I just read the messages and two people were wondering how Wamego got it's name. I was always told that before there was a bridge the Indians stood on the shore and they wanted to get to the other side so one said "Want me go"? and as he swam he said "Watch me go"! I don't know where this came from, but it makes sense and is cute too! I'm still a Jayhawker at heart.

Hello Wamego! Oh, how I've missed you all. My family lived there from 1982-1989 and I have many fond memories of my "small town" childhood. For those of you who still remain, thank you for the memories and for keeping your town alive! For those of you who dream of leaving, it's not all it's cracked up to be. I would love to return someday...if I can only tear my husband away from these Colorado mountains!

The first 18 years of my life were spent in lovely Wamego. I have such fond memories of life in a small town. Thank you for providing me a look into my home town. My dad made one set of blades for the windmill--it is special to me. I am so thankful that those who have lived in Wamego and those who live there now must love it as I do. So much of the town remains the same, instead of being town down and replaced with new things.

This is a great and very informative website! I'll be in Wamego this Sunday (and maybe even Monday depending on the weather) searching out my 'roots'. My g-grandfather Joe Gasser and his wife Rose lived near Wamego from the late 1800s. They had a farm out near Flush and worshipped at St. Bernard's. I hear that there are no Gassers left in the area, so I have no chance of meeting any cousins.....any one rememer the family?

Wamego has had strong athletic programs. We've had some great coaches in the past and still do like Kevin Muff, Rick Patton, Jamie Boring, Brad Hammett, and Bob Langston. We've had some really bad ones to like XXXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX. Those two are bringing Wamego athletics down. C. Smith

This is a very well put together web page. I am creating a web page
in my class at the Wamego Middle School in the Generation Y Class. this
was very helpful in providing good ideas to help me make my web page
more interesting. I do think that the town desperatly needs a coffee/doughnut shope.
That would really make this town an even more wonderful and homely place. Keep working
on the Town! Thanks. And the doughnut idea was my 8th grade classes idea, not just mine. We all aggree on a better town.

Hi there, First of all I would like to complement u on an excellent site which u haff created. I must say that u heleped me a lot in comprehending all the history text i was forced to read in doing my history module. It was very organised and all the infomation are easy to comprehend. Thanks once again. I would like to suggest if its not too bad of an idea that u add an extension to the history of india to more of a forum or rather a discussion on certain historical issues especially where politics is concern and where people and even u urself can post ur opinion on how u perceive the whole thing (e.g: how close was the accusation that the fast carried by Gandhi was more of an emotional blackmail..etc) and .. well it would be nice if you could add some info about Jinnah or at least try to view it from both sides because the independence of India cannot be summarised by Gandhi alone though he may have a lot to do with it.... nevertheless these are just suggestions. Still I simply am grateful to have come across your site! esp since there is other dimension to it such as the entertainmant sites esp the cinema..i adore hindi movies So.. keep up with the good work and i would love to see the site again when it updates

I just happened upon this website by accident. I can't believe I moved away in 1987 - it doesn't seem that long ago. I know live in Connecticut, in a small town similar to Wamego, but without the wonderful park, and the memories of growing up there (yes, I raised a lot of h***). I still have quite a few relatives that live there on my mother's side (Janice Jones). I haven't been back to Wamego since 2001 - I sure miss the 4th of July parade, it's not the same here. Just wondering if anyone knew a Tonya Brown. She would have graduated in 1997, but I don't know if it was in Wamego or if she graduated in Topeka. That was where her dad lived. I remember my visit to Wamego well, and could never forget the wild parties that week. Hope that M. Meyers remembers too. Let me know if you have any info on Tonya Brown.
