I’m sorry Chuck Cap didn’t leave his e-mail address so we could communicate with him but perhaps he reads this web site from time to time. I lived across the alley from Kent Hilliard and went to school with his sister. The shop you visited in Mesilla, NM belongs to Jo Ann Rawson Ott. I went to school with her as well. You are right, it is a small world. Don Cox

Worked across from a Wamego boy in the Army: A. Kent Hilliard in Viet Nam, 1969.
Also just returned from Mesilla, New Mexico, where I mentioned Wamego to a lady running a craft shop. SHE'S FROM THERE,TOO. She was one of triplets, two of which survived, probably born around 1940(I was too polite to ask her age). Small world, huh?

I know the president is doing what needs to be done butI an afraid of how life would be with the war over here. How will I suport my children and today they are talking about amtrex threats how do we as individuals fight this. No one has told us anything about what we are to do if we are bombed or what ever.

The president's speech last night will surely rank as one of
the greatest in our history. It's concievable, over time, that
public support could erode as the economy suffers and the
inevitable American military casualties mount, but I'm convinced
and reassured that our President will do the right things and
keep the focus in the right place.

Hello Wamego! I lived there from 1957-1966 and enjoyed the life there. I have lots of good memories of that time and have shared those with my husband and we have gone there several times to visit. We were the 1st to stay at the new addtion to the Simmer hotel and were very pleased with the accomodations. My father George Blaszczyk passed on in 1978 and my mother Joan in 1967. I have 4 other sisters and 1 brother. Anyone who knew me and would like to chat e-mail me and we can talk about past times and what is happening now. I am a mother of 2 grown girls and have 2 grandsons. I work for Hallmark Cards at their dist. ctr. in Liberty Mo. I have been there for 24 years. Thanks again Wamego for some very wonderful years. I'm looking for living members of the Birk family that went to Wamego before 1890. My relatives are buried in the Wamego Cemetary: e.g.
Phillip Birk
Born Feb.9, 1862 in Hohenhardsweiler, Württemberg, Germany.
Died Dec. 28, 1940 in Wamego, Kansas.
He married Marie Theresa Diepenbrock on April 7, 1890 and had 2 children. Then he married Bertha Wilhelmine Ringel on Feb. 19, 1895 and had 9 kids. There must be some younger Birk members still in the area. Could someone please look in your local phone book?
Thanks!

Hi, I am writing a book on American elms and am trying to locate photos of the Louis Vieux elm in full canopy, as well as in its decline. I would love any photos of people/events under the tree (my book is about the cultural impact of elms). If anyone is interested in this, e-mail me and we can arrange matters (I pay all costs). I would also welcome any newspaper clippings or articles on the tree.
Thanks, and hope to hear from someone!!
Sincerely, John Thomas

My mother, Alma Gieber, was born and raised in Wamego area. I spent a lot of time in my childhood in the 1940's in Wamego and have a lot of happy memories of your town. It is nice to see a web site about Wamego. Keep up the good work!
