Alice Bignall (maiden name for graduation from Wamego HS)
was born in 08 and is now 92. Her career was in nursing,
much of it in Junction City where her sister, Marguerite,
taught HS for many years. Olin Bignall (her father) owned and
operated the Wamego book store for many years. [As Alice's
son, Wamego became familiar territory to me, which continued
through my undergrad and postgrad years at K-State.] For
any old timers who might be online and wish to communicate
with Alice Bignall using the above email address (son's),
they will be pleased to know that she is doing pretty well...
though not highly mobile (she was among Wamego's polio
victims as a child). END

Don't know where that last person was visiting (entry of Oct.19th) but it certainly wasn't the Wamego, KS, that I visit every summer since '97! I've always enjoyed my visits and the friendly faces there. I've even commented to my friends (both the ones in Wamego) and the ones here in California that I've never heard any foul language used by the young people there and I'm usually there for a couple weeks at a time. Wamego is a breath of fresh air and it's so clean. I hate leaving Wamego at the end of my stay because it's a mess here. I'd consider living there and dream of it often. Incidentally, I may live in California but I left my heart in Wamego!

I was in Wamego about a week ago to vist a good friend of mine. I just can't believe she lives in a town filled with hateful people. There are so many hateful teenagers there that it is sad. I watched my friends daughter who is 14 get harrassed by juvinilles and ignorant kids who have nothing better to do then start hate crimes. It is a shame that a town that looks nice is not nice. The hateful gang members should be locked up an the key thrown away. I also noticed that you cant call the police and have anything done to these kids because the wpd does nothing about it. Parents should be ashamed of themselves for raising such monsters. I hope and pray my friend gets out of Wamego as soon as she can. For the saftey of her children. and I want to give these gang members names so bad but I cant due to they are minors. If they were in Texas they would be locked up.
Yeah Wamego looks nice but looks are deceiving

I have been here for 8 years in this little town. I really didn't want to move here, but my parents insisted because we have family here. I think Wamego is a quiet, little town that is an ideal place for people who would like to get away from big cities. But there needs to activities for the kids to get involved in because there is nothing for us. I would love to move back to Germany where my family was from 1988 to 1991 because my father was in the military. it was so nice there.

This morning I found out what a nice place Wamego is. My grandson missed his school bus. I took him to school in St. George. When I asked him "Where should I stop to let you out?" he said "right here!" A member of the sheriff's department gave me a ticket for parking in a no-parking area. I was stopped for all of 30 seconds, never got out of my car and never turned off my motor. I was parked! This would never happen in our lovely town of Wamego. Let's keep it that way.

I am originally from Germany and thanks to my American husband we have decided to make our home in Kansas.
I am interested in finding other Germans that have settled down here.
We could meet over the Internet, have the opportunity to speak German, share experiences and help newcomers get settled.

Do you think that you could add these 2 German links to your web site or pass them on to anybody who might be interested?

I appreciate any help you can give me in this matter.

My son-in-law, James L. Balderson is a driver for Greyhound
and travels through Wamego several times a month. However,
he can't stop to visit. He is especially interested in how
the name BALDERSON is connected with the Town of Wamego. Any
one out there know? Any Baldersons out there thinking the
same way? Does the name Arthur Loren Balderson connect? He
would love to hear from you.

Just checking in to see who else has signed the guestbook. I am a former resident of Westmoreland (not so far from Wamego). Hello, Paula Hernandez of Tampa, FL. I don't hear from Kim very often--but if I do, I'll tell her to e-mail you or call. You didn't leave your address. If you see this, be sure to drop me a line. If anyone ever runs in to Tammy Ebert or Sarah Plummer, please tell them to CALL ME!

I would like some up to date population figures, tax figures, growth curves etc on the city of Wamego. Any tax incentives for locating businesses there would be helpful also. I am looking at opening a large tanning salon in the city and would like info on Wamego as well as a 10 mile trade area. Thank you.

I'm very impressed with what I've seen on your homepage. I spent most of my life in Wamego, graduating in '77. I'm surprised at some of the comments on your guestbook. As I recall, Wamego was a very warm and loving community, with 'rural Kansas' values and pride. It's a credit to your editors and your sense of responsibilities that expressions of distaste toward the community are posted.
Ironically enough, I'm in a country that occaisionally finds it difficult for those same expressions.
For those of you who may know me, I'm currently stationed in the Republic of Korea. My travels have taken me around the world and allowed me to experience international cultures from Albania through Zimbabwe. I can only express my sincerest gratitude for the education (academic, cultural, and moral) I received as a 'child of Wamego'. God bless and keep.

Hello all the last time I was there was in the summer of 1966, I learned to swim in the Pool and frog gig in the park duck pond..Does anyone there have a lead on any decendents or ties to the Scott's,Breymeyers or Roses. I think I still have relatives living there. My dads cousin Don Breymeyer owned the welding shop there in in Wamego I beleve it was called Don's welding. My dad (Robert Scott) worked for Baldersons for a time back before WWIII spent a few very memorable times in Wamego and have a long lasting memory of the freindly people of Wamego. I remember My Dads aunt Maude who was Senile last disappear, we were all worried about her, she finally came home claiming to have gone gooseberry picking. I remeber my distant cousin Jerry and I going swimming and playing in the park and exploring the Old wind mill. I have a few old pictures of Wamego and School photos from back in the thirties also. Some of his class mates were the Peddicords. If anyone out there read this and can get me intouch with any of these people I would really appreciate it.
 thank you
